Proprietor Russ Niles calls it the “smallest winery in BC, to our knowledge” and they want to keep Edge of The Earth Vineyards just the way it is.  This tiny winery and vineyard near Armstrong, BC is operated under the watchful eye of Niles, who started operations ten years ago.

The three acre winery is all hand-tended, using organic practices.  As Niles says, “This is not just a sideline or a hobby.  You really have to know what you’re doing.”  Their goal, he explains, is to create wines that anyone can enjoy.

Amongst their most popular wines is the Marechal Foch.  Smooth, soft and smoky, it’s an easy wine to drink.  The Mostly Merlot is rich in texture, with a touch of oak and caramel.  

Niles calls their Blanc de Noir a “true blush,” with juicy flavours of strawberry.   Fruit-forward and soft, it is made from Pinot Noir grapes.

Edge of the Earth also produces a Pinot Noir icewine which John Schreiner, one of Canada’s most prolific wine writers, calls “perfectly balanced.”  And at just $40.00 it is the perfect price!

Located on the ancestral shores of Okanagan Lake 30 km north of Vernon, Edge of the Earth winery is part of the family homestead, and well worth the beautiful drive.
