Meyer Family Vineyards (MFV) won a Platinum, three Gold and two Silver Medals, was awarded fourth place in the category of Small Winery (under 10,000 cases) and 11th Overall Winery in Canada.

Awards Galore!

Declaring the 2018 National Wine Awards of Canada “the largest and most comprehensive wine competition in Canadian history,” WineAlign received entries from 1,850 wines, from 257 wineries. To earn top medals, wines progressed through multiple elimination rounds of blind tasting. Platinum Award winners represent only the top one per cent, or top 18 wines in Canada, with MFV 2016 Micro Cuvée Chardonnay, Old Main Road Vineyard, achieving this honour. Gold Medals were bestowed on 2016 Micro Cuvée Pinot Noir, McLean Creek Vineyard; 2016 Reimer Vineyard Pinot Noir; and 2016 Chardonnay, McLean Creek Vineyard. Silver Medals were awarded to 2016 Pinot Noir, Okanagan Valley; and 2017 Chardonnay, Stevens Block, Old Main Road Vineyard.

Wines for Norway

MFV is excited to have its McLean Creek Chardonnay selected from a formal tender for a full listing in all Norwegian government liquor stores (Vinmonopolet), and should be on the shelves by September. With Norway’s highly restrictive wine monopoly that regulates sales of alcohol, a winery must first be invited to submit specific wines to strictly regulated competitions, and must survive blind tasting eliminations.

Based on popular demand, MFV wines are also exported to London, United Kingdom, Japan, East Asia, Mainland China, Switzerland and the United States.

Join the Club

As a small production winery, many MFV wines are in short supply and sell out quickly. However, a good quantity of their bottles is reserved for the Meyer Family Vineyards Wine Club, with some lower production wines exclusively distributed to its membership and hospitality — one of many reasons to sign up.

“It’s like you are a member of the family, with benefits such as priority access to limited-availability wines, library wines and new releases,” said Monica Horning, Wine Club Coordinator. Through the Club, members receive four bottles of award-winning wine three times per year, a 10 per cent discount on wine purchased online or in the tasting room, complimentary tastings at the winery for said member and up to three guests, exclusive access to the online wine club store, no additional shipping fees when adding on to wine orders and invitations to special “Family-Only” events.

The Tasting Room on McLean Creek Road, Okanagan Falls, is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. The Wine Lounge is open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm. Relax and partake in a cold beverage or small charcuterie plate while enjoying the pristine vineyard setting and Peach Cliff Bluff views. Groups are welcome. Advance booking is required for parties of more than six people due to limited space.
