Moraine

This past June, the All Canadian Wine Championships gave a serious nod to Naramata Bench’s Moraine Estate Winery; their Gewürztraminer 2015 achieved Double Gold (making it the best Gewürz in the competition) while their Riesling 2015 and Red Mountain 2013 achieved Silver. This past July, Wine Align’s 2016 National Wine Awards followed suit by awarding Silver to five of Moraine’s wines: Cliffhanger Red 2014, Malbec 2014, Pinot Noir 2014, Syrah 2014 and Pink Mountain Rosé 2015. These accolades will come as no surprise to wine aficionados, as Moraine is no stranger to awards. The Riesling 2015 is one of Moraine’s flagship wines, winning Gold at International Fingers Lake Wine Competition 2016 and the Okanagan Life Best of BC Wine Awards…

Therapy Vineyards is known for its fun labels, popular Farmacy wine shop and selfie-worthy views. It will be soon be known for – quelle horreur – breaking some wine conventions by mixing up a harvest celebration cocktail. Therapy is producing serious, award-winning, single vineyard, single variety wines that are garnering lots of attention. Marichel

Richard Roskell, owner, viticulturist and winemaker of Marichel Winery on the Naramata Bench says his take on winemaking is very hands off. “The wine is quintessentially an expression of the farm. I don’t manipulate the wine… it’s the vineyard you are tasting.” Marichel produces about 1,500 cases a year of Syrah and Viognier wines from the winery and vineyard tucked away at the end of Littlejohn Road with its expansive view of vineyards, the lake and Summerland’s Giants Head Mountain. Countless photos have been taken from Marichel’s patio with lovely wine bottles and half-full glasses of a white or a…

LakeBreeze

Accessed off Naramata’s main road by a farm-lined lane, most people fall for the winery long before they’ve even set foot in the tasting room. It begins when they are greeted atop the clay bluff that the winery rests upon by a panoramic view of Lake Okanagan, spanning from the south shores of Penticton north to Okanagan Mountain Park. From this breathtaking lookout, patrons are whisked down a garden-lined path, with the cooling breeze from the lake at their back, down to the wineshop, cellar, patio restaurant, and several other buildings clustered together in a Tuscan-style that can quickly make…

Serendipity

Serendipity Wines certainly lives up to its name. Located overlooking the beautiful rambling hills that surround the Naramata Bench, the winery, though young, is gaining a great deal of notice from critics and the press. From the generous greeting I received from owner, Judy Kingston, to the subtle delicacy of their Pinot Noir 2013, it’s not hard to figure out why this is. From the very beginning Kingston has been dedicated to quality, a cause her daughter Katie O’Kell clearly shares. O’Kell, the winery’s assistant winemaker is the face of the next generation. A recent graduate of the celebrated UC…

Penney stores founder. With similar dedication, NBWA members collaborate to create an amazing wine country destination, offering their exceptional wines, events and experiences. Sure, Mother Nature provided a head start with the eye-popping landscape now dotted with pastoral vineyards on craggy hillsides overlooking Okanagan Lake. The spectacular drive along a 15 km country road, from Penticton to the village of Naramata, offers…

Serenipity

Serendipity Winery has never shied away from embracing change. In fact, embracing change has been a guiding philosophy of the winery since it first opened. And this summer will see a big change at Serendipity, as the main winery will reopen this August with a new wineshop, a breathtaking patio, and beautiful landscaping to welcome awestruck guests. Until this time, the winery will of course still be open to the public at a temporary facility on the property. Such changes of course, call for proper celebrations! Fortunately the opening of the new wineshop will coincide with the release of Serendipity’s…
