Good Wine, Good Food, Good Fun at Misconduct Wine Co.

Terry Meyer · May 31, 2012 ·

There is mischief afoot at Misconduct Wine Co.  Proprietor, Farmer and Winemaker Richard da Silva, and wife Twylla are having a ball with their winery on the Naramata Bench.  "We believe in making bold wines with attitude and personality.  The surprise factor for people with our not so serious name, is often the excellence of our wines."  Richard is not afraid to push the envelope, making decisions in the cellar to create whatever he feels best serves the wine. Their focus is on blends in the Bootleg series, where he believes the true art of winemaking can be expressed in more dynamic and creative wines.  Their small lot Reserve Series features premium selections that vary from vintage to vintage.

Their Portuguese family roots trace back to some of the first orchard farmers in the valley so it's no surprise that their focus is first and foremost on the quality of the grapes. There's another pairing that's sure to be a big hit for patio season; The Kitchen at Misconduct with Abul Adame, formerly of Amante's in Penticton.  "We focus on European style, casual rustic farm foods like Portuguese Buffana and Paella, and braised meats."

2009 Suspect Chenin-Viognier   $24.00

Racy minerality and acidity from the Chenin combined with the tropical lushness of Viognier.  Intense nose, juicy palate, long soft finish

2009 Suspect Pinot Noir  $28.00

Aromas of cherry, cigar box and floral on the nose, with lovely complexity and finish.
