Discover Wines Spring Staff Picks

Contributor · April 2, 2012 ·

Review by Stefan:

Meyer Family Pinot Noir 2010

This medium bodied; classic “Burgundian style” charmer has a wonderfully vibrant ruby hue and distinct aromas of youthful cherry and strawberry followed by mild earthiness, vanilla, strawberry and finishes smooth and silky.

Review by Debbie:

Ancient Hill Rosé 2010

If you haven’t heard of Ancient Hill, you soon will! This Rosé is lovely with deep cherry pink in color and having notes of strawberry and cranberry with black pepper rounding out the palate. Nicely dry and balanced. Enjoy with warmer weather salads, light pastas and salmon, or just for the sake of enjoyment!

Review by Melanie:

Quinta Ferriera Viognier 2010

This unique Viognier is buttery smooth with delicious peach and coconut flavours finishing with a complex variety of spices. Perfect with aged cheeses on a warm spring day!

Review by Corey:

See Ya Later Ranch Rover 2009

This wine was co-fermented with 3% Viognier to add a unique silkiness. Bouquets of blueberries and sweet cherries with vanilla, blackcurrant, nutmeg and white pepper on the finish. Great food wine for pairing with a braised short rib pulled pork sandwich or a meat pie. Sublime!

Review by Tracy:

Hester Creek Select Barrel Merlot 2009

A “People’s Choice” winner, I can see why. This is a deep and chewy Merlot for the price! Earthy, spicy, leathery and mature beyond its vintage. It’s Spring, so dust off the BBQ and enjoy with your first grilled meats of the season!

Review by David:

Kalala Pinot Gris 2009

A multi award-winning wine that is very popular with both staff and customers here in the store. Distinct aromas of orange blossom and honey. Medium bodied and dry. The palate reveals a wine with bright citrus, mineral notes and a hint of acidity. A perfect accompaniment to Vegan or Chicken Inspired Dishes.
