You Call the Shots at Mt. Boucherie Family Estate Winery

Contributor · May 31, 2012 ·

As you wind your way along the Westside Wine Trail, you’ll likely feel most at home and at one with the world at Mt. Boucherie Family Estate Winery. Whereas some wineries dictate every step and sip of your journey, Mt. Boucherie invites their guests to design their own experience. Bring a picnic lunch, purchase the perfect culinary wine partner “a la carte” available from the wine shop, or simply sip Winemaker Jim Faulkner’s award-winning wines in peace – it’s all up to you. Bask in the Okanagan sunshine on the patio overlooking the lake, or have it made in the shade under the shade sail on the newly-landscaped grounds.

“Everyone has different tastes, and different palates”, says Faulkner.  “We’re not going to tell our guests what kind of experience they’re supposed to have here. We’re very relaxed – it’s an inviting atmosphere and we want our guests to feel like family”.

Rooted in a long family history of exceptional quality and tradition, Mt. Boucherie is also embracing some recent changes. Not only has Mt. Boucherie modified the design of their labels to reflect a more contemporary look, the winery is making the move from cork to stelvin (or “screw cap”) enclosures. These are exciting developments that they’re welcoming for a variety of reasons. “We’re modernizing while paying respect to our roots”, says Faulkner. “The labels are easier to read and we’re very pleased with the new design”. As far as the transition to stelvin, Faulkner states that “it makes sense from both a financial and a quality control standpoint. Wines bottled with stelvin enclosures hold up better than cork – less return rate means happier wine drinkers”.

Discover Mt. Boucherie’s extensive portfolio at the wine shop and create your own experience. Visit daily from 10 am-6 pm now thru October.

2011 Ehrenfelser  $15.99

A well-balanced wine with aromas of rose petals, with lively tree fruit flavours, light lychee notes, and a whisper of spice. Perfect for sipping with your wine and cheese on the patio, or enjoy on its own in the sunshine.

2010 Estate Collection Gamay $14.99

A perfect patio red wine, serve slightly chilled and enjoy the delicate leafy and herbaceous bounty with lightly spiced strawberry and rhubarb fruit.
