Hester Creek – The Place to be this Summer

Allison Fader · June 4, 2012 ·

Hester Creek is the place to be this summer. Situated high on the Golden Mile Bench of Oliver, B.C. this winery offers many great entertaining ideas for Okanagan Valley travelers. The property is home to a 23,000 sq ft winery, Villa with six deluxe suites and Terrafina, an Italian influenced restaurant, ideal for your lunch or dinner.

Hospitality Director, Roger Gillespie suggests the following guest activities: a food & wine pairing experience; ($10.00) offered seven days a week July through October, a vineyard tour and tasting; ($10.00) visit the vineyard and sample great wines, or a vineyard tour with tutored tastings; ($25.00) including the viticulture experience and an educational tasting in a private dining room. Stop by Saturday afternoons, all summer long, where local musicians will provide live music on the patio.

Throughout the season, Hester Creek will conduct several cooking classes in the winery’s demonstration kitchen. Some of the chefs include; Jeremy Luypen, Executive Chef of Terrafina, Ricardo Scebba, Chris Van Hooydonk and Paul Cecconi.
Hester Creek is excited to welcome back Umberto Menghi, June 30th. Highly acclaimed international Chef and Restaurateur, Umberto will perform his magic in our demonstration kitchen. This must be booked now to avoid disappointment. Also, Trama returns for a third year on July 6th. This classic rock band will entertain all ages in the amphitheatre. Bring your dancing shoes and don’t miss this great event.

Some of the oldest vines in the Okanagan Valley have been growing on this 95 acre property and date as far back as 1968. Trebbiano for one is unique to Hester Creek. A very fruit forward and off dry wine, excellent with Asian dishes and lightly spiced foods. A great summer sipper on the patio.
Here are a few others to consider…

2011 Pinot Gris $16.99
A most popular varietal. Floral, apple, lemon, limestone, sage and herbs. Choose appetizers, grilled poultry and seafood with this one.

2011 Character White $19.99
A multi-varietal blend of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Trebbiano. Orchard fruit, melon and tropical fruit flavours. Pair with seafood, grilled chicken and cream sauces.

2010 Character Red $19.99
A multi-varietal blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Flavours of rich coffee, spice, plum, wild cherry and toasty oak. A favourite with grilled lamb chops, steak and ribs.
