Knock Out, World-Class Wines at Meyer Family Vineyards

Contributor · June 4, 2012 ·

When your business has your family name attached to it, pride is a keystone of your company values. JAK Meyer and Janice Stevens of Meyer Family Vineyards have been crafting single vineyard wines of excellence since 2006 and their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines express all the aspects of terroir in classic Burgundian style. Their goal is to produce the best of these wines in BC and with their Winemaker Chris Carson, the team at Meyer is focused on hand-crafted wines from vineyard to bottle. This combination of worldwide experience and reverence for tradition and quality help to create modern BC classics in the wine world. They are one of only two BC wineries that were invited to the International Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration in Niagara this year, where 55 producers from around the world are gathering to showcase some of the best examples of the varietal produced today. Reviews of both Meyer Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs have garnered ratings of 91-93 points from well-known critics such as David Lawrason and Tony Aspler. In his recent review of the 2010 Reimer Vineyard Pinot Noir, David Lawrason called it “a knock out”.

The tasting room at Meyer Family Vineyards offers a relaxing environment in which to enjoy the wines and the scenery. There is a picnic area available; you can have the quintessential wine country experience when you purchase a few nibbles from the tasting room along with your wine, and sit in the vineyard below Peach Cliff. If you would like a more educational experience, look to book a tasting or a vineyard tour this summer with a Sommelier or the Proprietor. Check out their new website at www.mfvwines.com for details on this and their new wine club offerings.
