Chillin’ Lakeside at the Rotten Grape

Jennifer Schell · September 11, 2012 ·

The Rotten Grape Wine & Espresso Bar has enjoyed a super busy summer on their sunny downtown patio. Open for lunch as well as dinner, they draw wine and coffee lovers to their funky tapas bar day and night. New this year, The Rotten Grape expanded into an espresso bar using high-end beans from Caffe Umbria.

Another draw for RG fans this summer was the return of Chef Guilio Piccoli from Italy. Guilio moved back to his homeland last year but decided his love for Canada (and the RG!) was too strong to stay away. You can enjoy his Italian additions to the menu like the Lamb Meatballs or the new dessert Semi-Freddo. The RG now has Apertivo with complimentary snacks served from 5-7pm with great deals on drink features!

The menu is created from organic, local ingredients featuring local farmers and artisans. There are also many choices for those with food allergies and dietary preferences and all are about being green. Celebrated as one of our most outstanding green businesses, owner Rita Myers is an advocate of the Eat Local and Dine Local movements as well as being Oceanwise™ and member of the Green Table.

Health and enviro-conscious Rita has also joined the Meatless Monday Canada movement, a joint initiative between several groups interested in helping Canadians make one day a week meat-free. “It’s about healthy, sustainable eating. It’s about reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It’s about doing what we can to slow down global warming”. For more information go to: meatlessmonday.ca

Wino Wednesdays will also be back sometime later this fall.
