Burrowing Owl Estate Winery Releases a New Sauvignon Blanc

Contributor · March 26, 2013 ·

When you find yourself in the South Okanagan this spring, drop in to visit Burrowing Owl Estate Winery. The wine shop is being expanded to provide more room so guests can enjoy an even greater experience at this fine winery.  Office space is also being expanded to make way for additional staff,, and the construction will also provide increased patio seating for guests dining at the Sonora Room Restaurant.

Burrowing Owl Estate Winery is pleased to announce the release of a new wine this Springspring: a 2011 Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes for this varietal come from Burrowing Owl’s vineyard in the Similkameen Valley – a location chosen specifically for Sauvignon Blanc. Rhys Pender, MW states: “This wine has an intense and complex expression of barrel and lees.  The nose has pronounced tropical notes of passion fruit along with peaches, orange sherbet, baked golden apple and honeydew melon with some fresh lime and lemon in the background. The palate is dry and full-bodied with crisp acidity and flinty mineral notes supported by toasty vanilla oak, exotic citrus fruit and zest and mouth filling ripe nectarine, peach and pear”.  Visit Burrowing Owl’s Wine Shop this spring to purchase a bottle or two.

Spring getaway packages will be offered for visitors to relax, sip and taste their way through Burrowing Owl’s portfolio of wines while enjoying the luxury of the winery’s well- appointed suites, and the vineyard landscape that surrounds them.

For a grand culinary experience, guests can enjoy delicious, epicurean meals at The Sonora Room with a relaxed style, superb service and scenic splendor. Guests will be wowed by the friendly, hospitable service staff including Restaurant Operator, David Keeler and Restaurant Manager, Yvonne Ouwerkerk at the helm along with the passionate culinary team who embrace the opportunity to showcase their exceptional talents, using fresh, local ingredients.  The Sonora Room Restaurant delivers “the essence of wine country dining”.
