Destination: Penticton BC VQA Wine Info Centre

Jennifer Schell · September 10, 2013 ·

Looking for BC wine?  The Penticton BC VQA Wine Information Centre features over 700 different wines all at winery prices – enough to make your head spin!  And if you are looking for the ultimate taste of the Okanagan, the selection of local wines is unbelievable.  It’s a one stop shop so plan to walk out with a couple of mixed cases to experience the ultimate mix of the Okanagan’s best.

It is such a pleasure to browse the well-stocked shelves at the Centre.  There is always a wine tasting happening so you can sample something new.  The staff is very helpful as well as being super wine-literate and knowledgeable – about both the actual wines as well as the people that make it.  This is what makes drinking local so special, knowing the passion that went into each bottle and learning about that special team of people that made it.

Our wine industry has grown so exponentially over the past few years for that reason: a passion for winemaking.  And it’s not as glamourous as you may think!  The many hours of farming as well as winemaking behind each wine label is amazing and so spending your dollars on a local community product is important.  The Penticton BC VQA Wine Information Centre is operated by the BC Wine Information Society, a not-for-profit store that channels all proceeds back to the community supporting the wine industry, education, and wine tourism – hooray!  If you can’t buy direct from the winery, this is the next best thing.

The store also offers a bountiful array of local and wine industry focused gift ideas including Reidel stemware and cookbooks.  Custom gift baskets can be created for you at any budget and are ideal for wedding or housewarming gifts.  Open 7 days a week.
