Glorious Garlic Galore at Hester Creek’s 2nd Annual Garlic Festival!

Contributor · September 6, 2013 ·

While Hester Creek Estate Winery’s focus will always be on their quality wine production, on Saturday October 5th, 2013 the winery will celebrate all things garlic.  The second annual Garlic Festival will be held from 11 am until 4 pm at Hester Creek.  Admission to the festivities is all by donation with proceeds going to the Oliver Elementary School’s Farm to Table Lunch Program, a local initiative providing nutritious lunch to schoolchildren using local farm produce. The festivities will see local garlic growers, artisans and food trucks converging to worship this glorious bulb.  Visit the onsite Terrafina Restaurant and sample their garlic features and certainly don’t miss Medici’s garlic gelato!

Hester Creek Winery was recently honoured with a visit by the Lieutenant Governor of  British Columbia who awarded the winery for the second year in a row for the Award of Excellence in  British Columbia Wine going to the 2010 Reserve Cabernet Franc; the 2008 Hester Creek Reserve Merlot was similarly honored last year.  Sample the award winning wines of Hester Creek on October 10th, 2013 during their Cellar Grazing event where food and wine stations will be scattered throughout the winery.

2012 Chardonnay $24.95
Crafted from grapes grown on the Golden Mile Bench, this wine is 100% estate grown and full of caramel, butterscotch, honey, and citrus.  12 hours of skin contact assisted in extracting flavour and complexity.   A full malolactic fermentation, before being oak-aged sur lie in 75% French and 25% American for 8 months, gave the wine a rich mouth feel and good length.  There are only 500 cases of this small lot, winery only production. A great wine to pair with roast chicken, crab cakes, grilled scallops or fried oysters.
