Fresh Ideas Grow From the Ground Up at Basket Case Picnics

Dona Sturmanis · July 3, 2014 ·

Street food and gourmet picnics from the Okanagan’s Basket Case Picnics are fun-filled experiences that have gained increasing popularity with customers. “They allow us to really stretch our culinary creativity,” says owner Kelsey Galt. “We are perpetually evolving our products and services with the harvest and good advice from our suppliers, while constantly researching and developing fresh ideas, quite literally ‘from the ground up’.”

As more wineries partner with Basket Case, more ideas come up as to how to enhance their visitors’ experiences. “So we really have two key clients,” says Kelsey, “our partners and the ultimate consumer.”

These creative partnerships have resulted in special events for Basket Case including Diner en Blanc, Splash of Red, on-site service with Ancient Hill Winery, Valhalla Helicopters Tours, and the Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon.

Basket Case Picnics is a unique and well-positioned business that helps bring Okanagan food, wine and tourism together. “We’ve created a win-win-win partnership, sourcing ingredients from local growers, ranchers, cheese makers, bakers and others for our ever-evolving menus, to enjoy while at wineries, attractions, boating and more!”

It’s always nice to have happy customers!  “My husband and I were lucky enough to have Basket Case cater our wedding,” wrote satisfied bride Claire Volpatti. “Not only was the food delicious and in line with our own farm-to-table values, but the team at Basket Case worked incredibly hard to ensure that our day went off perfectly and without incident.”
