Have A Vine Tingling Experience At The View Winery

Roslyne Buchanan · July 3, 2014 ·

Awaken all of your senses at The View Winery with a “Vine Tingling Experience”. Book at least 24 hours in advance to participate in this one-hour elevated tasting experience for $15 per person. Offered Thursday to Sunday, it is capped at 10 people making it an intimate, fun and informal way to learn about winemaking and food-pairing. In this idyllic country backdrop set apart by its iconic red shoe theme and amazing vista, you are led through an informative session. Wine shop manager Jill Hansen notes, “You’ll always have something in your glass as you move through bubbly, white, red and dessert wine paired with sweet and savoury local products.” Imagine learning about viticulture – The View grapes specifically and Okanagan grapevines generally – as you tour the vineyard, weather permitting. Examine the qualities of stainless steel tanks, what oak imparts, and other factors in winemaking. You’ll explore the tasting cellar and barrel room so bring a sweater in case it’s cool and wear sensible walking shoes – red optional. Afterward, you’re eligible for a discount in the wine shop where the support of local businesses continues with many products from jewellery to jams by local artisans. To book, contact jill@theviewwinery.com or call 250-860-0742. (Private and group tours are also available.)

The View Winery was awarded the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce 2013 Business Excellence Award for Tourism & Hospitality. The local community support goes beyond the products on its shelves. “The View Cares: Red Shoe Campaign” is a charitable initiative in which proceeds from the tasting fees and 10 cents from every can of BLING purchased are contributed. This year’s recipients are The Heart and Stroke Foundation, BC Hospitality Foundation, and BC Women and Children’s Hospital.
