Smack DAB – Easy Access, Summer Splendor

Deanna Rainey · July 3, 2014 ·

(pictured: The ultimate G & T on the ultimate Okanagan patio.)

Lakeshore Road has just closed, much to the chagrin of Mission residents. So I left plenty of time to get from the lower Mission to my interview at Smack DAB at Manteo Resort.  Surprisingly, I arrived well in advance of my scheduled meeting and didn’t need extra time at all.  Manteo Resort and Smack DAB really are easy to get to despite the closures!

On a summer day – and there are plenty to come – Smack DAB is the place to be.  Featuring the largest waterfront patio in the area, Smack DAB offers great local-grown foods and for those who are just enjoying a glass of Okanagan wine or a craft beer, some of the most comfy lounging furniture anywhere.

One of Smack DAB’s most popular menu items are the wine and beer flights.  Sample five  1 ½ oz. glasses of their local wines for just $13.  Beer lovers can taste a flight of  five of their featured craft beers for $12.  This summer they’ve mixed up some delicious new cocktails, too.  Think local fruits and perennial favorites with a twist.  Their signature G&T is, as they say, no doubt the best gin and tonic you will ever have!

Their summer food menu reflects the bounty of fabulous foods grown locally.  The breakfast buffet is 7:00 am ‘til 10:30; and full dining runs from 11:00 am ‘til 10:00 pm.  Enjoy lake-watching on the outdoor patio ‘til midnight.    Some of their all-time favourites include Crispy Beef and Prawn Salad, Smack DAB Crazy Fries, Salt Spring Island Mussels or Beer Can Chicken.  Try their wildly popular House-made Ice Cream in flavours such as Concord Grape Sorbet, Caramelized Peach Yogurt or Raspberry Sorbet.
