“A Touch of Class” at Black Hills Estate Winery

Luke Whittall · June 11, 2015 ·

The Wine Experience Centre at Black Hills Estate Winery is setting new standards in tastings in the Okanagan and TripAdvisor reviews are brimming with praise. Posts rave with comments such as it’s “A touch of class”, “Magic”, “Outstanding”, “a weekend to remember”, “Wonderful atmosphere, great taste and knowledgeable staff” and the love continues with scores of individual reviewers.
What’s attracting such accolades? President Glenn Fawcett explains that “very special sit-down tasting experiences” have been created. “Our ‘Wine Evangelists’ (the tasting room wine educators) guide our guests through an informative and entertaining flight of wines, each served in the appropriate Riedel glass,” he adds. “As our visitors sit comfortably, the wine evangelist shares insight into our terroir, winemaking process and history.” The $10 Introductory Tasting samples current releases Alibi, Chardonnay and Syrah. The $20 Portfolio Tasting Experience adds Viognier, Carmenere and Nota Bene to feature all six current releases from the highly acclaimed Black Hills labels.

To reserve and get details on all tasting options, email tastingexperience@blackhillswinery.com or see www.blackhillswinery.com
Along with that primary desire to provide exceptional tastings to showcase the wines, at Black Hills you’ll find attention to detail everywhere. From its picturesque setting on Black Sage Road, the architectural gem that is the Wine Experience Centre, to its funky water feature, each element is designed to wow with the wines. Circle your calendar and reserve your place for the 8th Annual Nota Bene Release Party, 4:30 to 7:30 pm, June 20th ($159), an amazing event. Also, be sure to check out the ‘Midsummer’s Night Dream’ featuring the Aqualillies, 6 to 10 pm, August 8th ($99.95). It’s truly living the Okanagan dream to sip exquisite wine and nibble appetizers outside as you watch the spectacle.

2013 Nota Bene
Grab it while you can, the 2013 Note Bene is the 15th vintage of this flagship wine and as Steve Carberry, winegrower says, “one of the best years seen for flavour profile, balanced ripeness and quality.” Show it respect with proper decanting and fitting glassware to enjoy the symphony of scents, flavours and feel. There’s rich dark berries and cherries at the beginning with hints of vanilla-dipped cigars and earthiness. Throughout the juiciness offers waves of floral tones and light tannins that’ll have you craving more and an epic steak to accompany it.
