CedarCreek Estate Winery: Bit of Burgundy in BC

Roslyne Buchanan · July 13, 2015 ·

‘When the world’s most respected writer on Burgundy and Pinot Noir rates CedarCreek Estate Winery’s 2012 Block 4 Platinum Pinot Noir as best in BC, it’s time to visit firsthand.’

Allen Meadows (burghound.com) was sent 54 wines from 27 Okanagan Pinot Noir producers to review and all three wines sent from CedarCreek were ranked exceptionally well. The provincial leader was 2012 Block 4 Platinum Pinot Noir at 92 points while 2012 Platinum Block 2 Pinot Noir was rated 91 and 2012 Estate Pinot Noir 90. Visit soon because these wines won’t be available for long and the Platinum ones are only offered in their wine shop. Says CedarCreek winemaker Darryl Brooker, “Pinot Noir, known as the heartbreak grape, is emerging as a strength in the Okanagan, and we see this recognition as a direct result of our increased focus on single vineyard block-specific wines.” The wine shop, which is open year round, offers many other award-winning choices because – just as in France’s Burgundy – wine is the main attraction. A bit of Burgundy is presented in a multitude of ways at CedarCreek as it celebrates a joyous lifestyle in a gorgeous setting. There’s a variety of fun activities and delicious farm-to-table cuisine by Executive Chef Jeremy Tucker to pair along with the wine in the lakeview Vineyard Terrace Restaurant. New this season, dinner is also available and you can reserve online with OpenTable.

Join a tour daily at 11 am, 1 pm, or 3 pm, May to October. Or opt into the one-hour Food-and-Wine Paired Vineyard Tour, 11 am, Thursday to Sunday, from June 4 to September 4. Enjoy two wines with two canapés served in the vineyard, followed by a wine tasting on the patio for $18.99 per person plus tax. There’s the popular Sunset Yoga and Wine Reception ($30 plus tax and gratuity) on Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 pm, June 30 to September 1. Experience an hour of Yoga suitable for all levels with a certified instructor from Oranj Fitness, staged in the scenic Vineyard Pavilion. Then adjourn to the wine garden for CedarCreek wine paired with charcuteries, salads and fruits from local producers. Reserve ahead and bring your yoga mat. For these and events such as the TELUS Sunset Concert series, purchase tickets at cedarcreek.bc.ca
