Wine & Sausage Pairings at C.C. Jentsch Cellars

Luke Whittall · July 2, 2015 ·

CC. Jentsch Cellars has taken food and wine pairing toa whole new level. It has teamed up with the folks at Doug’s Homestead, the famous sausage makers on Route 3 near Hedley, to offer sausages on the BBQ for sale throughout the summer. Visitors can now enjoy wine by the glass and a gourmet sausage with an exciting selection of condiments. The BBQ will be going all summer, making this the perfect lunch or snack stop on your wine tour this year.
How about a little Syrah to go with that sausage? The 2013 vintage is a full-throttle Syrah with no Viognier co-fermentation this vintage, making it extremely focused. The Syrah is grown mostly on the upper and lower benches of their vineyard and gets the full heat of the summer along with early evening shade that maintains the acidity.
As well, the 2013 “The Chase” will also fit the bill quite nicely. A blend of 5 Bordeaux grape varieties— Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot— which are all grown in the vineyards on the Golden Mile. An excellent value at $20 for a bottle, this is a great wine to start a cellar collection.
In addition to the current cozy wine shop experience, Chris Jentsch has constructed a new larger tasting bar that is perfect for accommodating larger groups. From a small group of 6 to an entourage of 25, CC Jentsch will be able to handle it easily with a beautiful long tasting bar and ample room to roam. Advanced notice is required to use this room so groups are required to book well in advance. Please contact the winery for more information.
