Gray Monk Estate Winery Thinks Big!

Deanna Rainey · August 27, 2015 ·

Gray Monk Estate Winery is, simply stated, stunning and lush. They consistently produce some of the finest wines in the land and now, they’re thinking big!

This year, Gray Monk is introducing a new three-pack, the Odyssey Tier Trio, including wines personally recommended by proprietor Trudy Heiss. It features the Odyssey Merlot, Cabernet and Meritage.

“We’re thinking big at Gray Monk. The three pack of Big Reds is a less expensive way to taste our family reserve, high end, limited product grown in Osoyoos.  We’ve been very successful with our white wines, and now we’re at the same level of excellence with our reds,” she says.

Located near Winfield, Gray Monk winery and vineyards are nestled on an expansive hillside overlooking Okanagan Lake. Huge pots of colourful flowers  are the pride of  Trudy Heiss. The Grapevine Restaurant, which I had the opportunity to experience this summer, serves up sumptuous meals. All in all, it’s one of the very best choices for your next winery visit.

When fall arrives and talk turns to Thanksgiving turkey, co-proprietor George Heiss has his personal favorite wine to complement the quintessential Thanksgiving dinner. Gray Monk’s 2014 Rotberger offers characteristics that are ideal for this favorite family gathering.

2014 Rotberger – $14.79

A rare varietal, this lovely rosé is described as having a penetrating aroma that shows spice, raspberry and currant notes, leading to flavours of spiced cherries and cranberries.  At this wonderful price, it is the perfect selection for your fall dinner table.
