It’s big red time at Adega on 45th

Luke Whittall · September 8, 2016 ·

With a succession of beautiful vintages at Adega on 45th in Osoyoos beginning in 2012, we are now tasting the benefits of all of that beautiful weather through their aged reds. Adega has a full portfolio of red wines that are big, beautifully structured, and delicious.
Leading the charge is the winery’s flagship red, the Quarteto Tinto 2012. This beautifully crafted Bordeaux-style blend is dominated appropriately by Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec and took home a Double Gold medal at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. Four single-variety wines are also available – Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Malbec – and each shows the results of these beautiful vintages. The Cabernet Franc 2012 is ripe, round, and full and won a Gold medal at the Northwest Wine Summit. The Malbec 2013 was in high demand this past summer for its fruit-forward style and full flavours of currents, cherries, and flowers. All wines are reasonably priced and are some of the best values in the Okanagan for full-bodied reds.
Topping off the portfolio are two very special reserve wines. The Alexandrino Reserve Syrah 2012 was grown in co-owners Alex and Maria Nunes’ vineyard on the southwest side of Osoyoos. The Alfredo Reserve Merlot 2012 was grown on the home vineyard on the east side of Osoyoos (the vineyard that surrounds the winery). Both are profoundly deep examples of what the rich terroir around Osoyoos can be. There are only a limited number of cases of these wines left for sale.
Members of A-List Wine Club receive special discounts and benefits when visiting the winery. To get into the Club, purchase the Wine Makers’ Case (a collection of Adega wines) at 15% off on orders through the wine shop.
Open until the weekend before Christmas and then closed January and February unless otherwise posted.
