Wild Goose Winery– Flying High with Worldwide Accolades

Abbey Westbury · September 12, 2016 ·

Autumn in wine country is a time to celebrate! Wine lovers seeking something delicious and entertaining need only fly south to Okanagan Falls to enjoy the excitement of the season.

On October 1st, Wild Goose Vineyards hosts their 3rd annual Beale Street Festival (12pm-3pm). Revel in the beautiful Okanagan weather and savour the Blues at this popular Fall Wine Fest event. Your ticket includes seating at the Vineyard Stage, lunch from the delectable Smoke & Oak Bistro and a glass of Wild Goose wine. Tickets available online  www.wildgoosevineyards.com or at the wine shop.
Wild Goose’s most recent releases are once again flying away with worldwide accolades. Among those to check out this season:

2015 Mystic River Pinot Blanc – $16.62
This Double Gold, All-Canadian Wine Championships; Gold, Okanagan Spring Wine Fest winner is an ideal late-summer treat; the bright flavours of pear and melon balance deliciously with the creaminess that comes from partial fermenting on the lees. The result is refreshing, and just round enough to keep the cooler weather at bay while the last of the season’s heat lingers.

2015 Pinot Gris – $15.75
As a varietal, Pinot Gris can be enigmatic, but there’s certainly no puzzle as to why Wild Goose’s 2015 vintage (Double Gold and Best in Class; Cascadia Wine Fest) recently garnered 91 points from John Schreiner. This wine is an excellent match for the season, incorporating lively autumn fruits and subtle honey notes with a rich, unexpected earthiness.

2015 Autumn Gold – $16.62
Aptly named, the Autumn Gold is a multi award winner (Gold, All-Canadian Wine Championships; Gold, Okanagan Spring Wine Fest; Gold, Okanagan Life Magazine) and is ideal for the harvest season. This signature white blend of Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Blanc boasts fresh orchard crispness and an undertone of spice and ginger. It’s a perfect full-bodied indulgence, and a crowd favourite that sells out quickly, so lose no time in securing yours!

Alternately, consider joining the Vintner’s Club, which offers priority access to Autumn Gold, and many other wines in the Wild Goose portfolio. With a variety of member perks, the Club is growing quickly; now is a great time to get in on the action!  Call the winery for details.
With the holiday season on the horizon, remember that Wild Goose wines are an excellent way to feather your nest for the winter. The wine shop is open daily (for those connoisseurs who don’t hibernate, by appointment only after October). No matter how you come by them, these Canadian geese offer delicious companionship in any season.
