Wine and cheese on Upper Bench, yes please!

Elaine Davidson · September 13, 2016 ·

Wine and cheese go together like sun and shine and Upper Bench Winery & Creamery is as wonderful as warm blue sky fall days with its stellar offerings crafted on site, a gorgeous tasting room and a stunning patio with vineyard views.
This fall’s new releases include a pair of 2013 reds with grapes that basked in one of the Naramata Bench’s hottest summers of the decade and finished in one of the coolest falls on record resulting in fine tannins and well balanced, concentrated flavours. The 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and 2013 Estate Merlot grapes were hand-tended, fermented in wooden vats and then cellared in French oak barrels for 20 months.
Upper Bench is also celebrating the success of its Curds & Corks wine and cheese club with shipments throughout the year, early access to new releases and specialty cheeses created only for club members. What’s better than wine and cheese together in one shipment? Talk about a party in a box.
Comments overheard in Upper Bench’s wine shop are an indicator visitors are in for a memorable treat – “Best Merlot I’ve had outside of Europe.” “Best reds on the Bench.” “Killer Chardonnay.”
“The crew here at Upper Bench look forward to harvest each year, this year is no exception,” says winemaker Gavin Miller. “The season started off three weeks ahead, but with the welcomed cooler temperatures we are now on track to produce wines with more complexity and delicate flavours.”
