The Splendours of SpierHead

Deanna Rainey · May 8, 2017 ·

SpierHead Winery in Southeast Kelowna is a lush gem surrounded by vineyards and orchards, with the hills of the Okanagan Valley in the distance. This quaint winery, with its patio and picnic area, opens May 1st from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm daily, and you’re welcome to drop in for a tasting at any time. Tastings are $5.00 for up to five wines. The $5 fee is waived for each bottle of wine purchased.
SpierHead’s licensed patio area offers a sumptuous, relaxing yet exciting atmosphere where you’ll just want to stop, sip and enjoy. Back by popular demand, the Patio at SpierHead will be offering local food favorites to enjoy with your wine. It will open in mid to late June. This is also the perfect spot for corporate events or family get-togethers. Check
www.spierheadwinery.com for updates, details and to purchase from their full selection of wine online.
Look for three 2016 vintages in May and June. The new Riesling features 100% of the grapes from SpierHead’s onsite vineyards, and is fermented and aged in stainless steel. The Chardonnay is also comprised of grapes grown on site, with 30 to 40% fermented in French oak barrels and the remaining in stainless steel tanks. And the Pinot Gris, a perennial crowd favorite, will also become available.
SpierHead Wine Club membership is the best way to savour award-winning wines year round, and club enthusiasts enjoy some unique activities throughout the season. In May, there will be a vertical tasting of Rieslings going back as far as 2010. And the ever-popular Pinot Noir Blending Weekend, where members choose from barrel samples to create their own wine called Club Consensus, takes place in August.  www.spierheadwinery.com
