Avoid the Summer Chaos & Find Serenity at Nighthawk Vineyards

Blake Allen · July 12, 2017 ·

Nighthawk Vineyards is a true family run farm gate winery, now in their third season. Less than ten minutes from the village of Okanagan Falls, the winery is perched atop the surrounding hills, against the picturesque shores of Green Lake. The Bibby family’s passion and devotion to their vineyard is perhaps best reflected in their 2016 Late Harvest Gewürztraminer “Special Select”. Born from an all-family harvest at -12 degrees, the frozen grapes went through a slow basket press outside over a two-day period to extract the golden nectar that has become their new signature vintage. This unique dessert wine, along with their newly released Cabernet Franc, join the wineries already noteworthy portfolio of high-quality wines. Several of which have been winning awards at the Best of BC and Best of Varietal at the Okanagan Wine Festival and Pacific Northwest Wine Awards.
Nighthawk Vineyards has just launched the “Guardian Club”, a wine club named in honour of the local nighthawks who they consider to be the guardians of the vineyard each season. The two-tiered club not only provides members with early access to new releases and discounts on purchases in-store, but in it’s upper level, also offers members access to library vintages and an exclusive invitation to a harvest celebration dinner served in the vineyard.
The Okanagan can sometimes prove to be a busy place at the height of the summer season, but the natural silence of Nighthawk’s forested hills provide the weary traveller a quiet place to relax with a patio looking out on the emerald waters of Green Lake. Kept company with only a bottle of fine wine and charcuterie board of cured meats, artisanal cheeses, and preserves made right on site. As the nighthawks dance in the sky above the lake you’ll discover just what makes this valley so wonderful.
