Summerhill Launches Small Plates Food Bar

Roslyne Buchanan · July 6, 2017 ·

Always at the forefront of the wine and culinary world especially as it relates to organic and local, Summerhill Pyramid Organic Winery is launching a new Food Bar to complement its existing Sunset Organic Bistro and other dining facilities. In a recent interview to check out the stunning space being developed to accommodate it, Stephen Cipes, Proprietor, said, “What’s sweeping the rest of the world in this industry is a movement toward small plates of cash and carry authentic foods which can be shared. Here at Summerhill each dish will be served in a setting that gives it presence.”
With a nod to executive winery chef Alex Lavroff and dining room manager Paul LaGrange now partnering with chef Megan Dune of RauDZ Creative Concepts’ fame to present the magnificent new Food Bar, Cipes pointed out, “the food presentation at Summerhill is the talk of the town. And, of course, everything here will be organic including the Asian and Italian-influenced dishes.” To accommodate the Italian side, a new wood-fired pizza oven is being installed on the lower level, which can produce 14 pizzas every three minutes. What’s exciting is that much of the ingredients used on those pizzas will be harvested from the organic pizza gardens located right next to it.
Whatever wines and culinary delights you select, you’ll have the choice of stunning settings in which to enjoy it. On the 80-acre vineyard, there’s now a rooftop picnic area with a sweeping 30-kilometre view of Okanagan Lake and Kelowna beyond the vineyards, gardens and winery facilities. If you prefer an air-conditioned dining experience, the Summerhill ballroom with its fabulous view will also have seating.
Adds Cipes, “This season we have expanded to more than 10 tasting stations so that each and every fellow steward of the earth receives a personal, warm welcome. Our ambassador program has gone global allowing each enthusiast to be an ambassador for Summerhill Pyramid-energized organic wines. This breakthrough program catapults the already fastest growing segment of the wine industry – organic wines.”
While venturing on your own wine trails, visit Summerhill to taste the single most awarded wine in Canada, Cipes Brut. Be sure to sign up for the Pyramid Experience Tours held at noon, 2, 4 and 6 pm. These tours are free and include an opportunity to be in the precision sacred geometry chamber, which Cipes says is second only to the Great Pyramid in Egypt. “The chamber is conducive to ‘going within’ and is a cherished awakening to many just as it clarifies the wines.”
The excitement of being awarded The Best Chardonnay in the World for the 2014 Chardonnay Icewine at the Chardonnay du Monde® 2017 competition in Burgundy, France continues to resonate for the Summerhill family of over 150 employees as well as long-time fans of Summerhill Pyramid Organic Winery. Blanc de Blanc won platinum in BC and silver at Chardonnay du Monde® making Summerhill the only winery from Canada with two medals. Blanc de Blanc was recently awarded a coveted gold medal from Decanter Magazine of London, England. “With such success and quantity under 200 cases, at $65 per bottle it’s moving like hotcakes,” adds Cipes. “These world-class accolades are a source of pride to Canadians for 25 years and recognize the benefits of being in harmony with nature and the Okanagan Valley’s pristine growing conditions.”
