Wines Erupting with Flavour at Volcanic Hills

Sue Harper · July 6, 2017 ·

Volcanic Hills Estate Winery, family owned and operated, is located on the southeastern slope of a dormant volcano. They are excited to share two new releases this summer. Lava Red, a popular off-dry, semi-sweet blend (a high one or low two on the sweetness scale) is ready for tasting, while their Sparkling Gewürztraminer is eagerly waiting to be bottled and should be available in August.
Over the summer, the wine shop opens from 10 am to 8 pm, At the spacious, wheelchair accessible tasting bar, try their 2014 Riesling Icewine, judged the Best Icewine at the 2017 BC Best of Varietal Wine Awards. Get creative and try it in chocolate liqueur cups, on ice cream, fresh fruit, or mix it into your favorite drink. They also boast award winning reds and whites that will be sure to please your palate.
After your visit, you can enjoy lunch or dinner next door at Blu Saffron (11:30 – 8 p.m.), which holds a spacious patio so you may soak up that Okanagan sun. Reservations are recommended.
Would you like Volcanic Hills wines delivered to your door? By joining the wine club you will receive four wines, four times a year (February, May, August, and November) carefully selected to reflect classics, new releases, and trends in vinification.
You can choose a red, white or a mixed package. There’s a discount on the wine and Volcanic Hills can ship right to your home across Canada. In the wine shop, members receive a discount on wine and merchandise, and tastings are complimentary for you and two guests. It’s like Christmas four times a year and makes the best gift for a friend too.
The winery is currently organizing three events for mid-July, mid-August and mid- September. Visit www.volcanichillswinery.com and click on News/Events for more information.
