Autumn is Golden at Wild Goose Vineyards

Elaine Davidson · November 29, 2017 ·

The awards keep rolling in for Wild Goose Vineyards at more and more prestigious wine competitions. 2017 has been the most winning year ever! The winning lineup includes four silvers for the four wines it entered in the San Francisco International Wine Competition– the largest and most influential wine competition in America. All seven Wild Goose wines entered at WineAlign came home with medals including gold for the Red Horizon Meritage 2015 and 2016 Pinot Gris. At the LA WineFest, Wild Goose also bagged a gold for the 2016 Gewürztraminer and 90 points and Best in Class for Autumn Gold 2016 with 94 points.
What better way to bid adieu to summer and welcome the cool crisp days of fall than by enjoying a glass of Autumn Gold 2016. One of Canada’s most popular white blends, Autumn Gold is equal parts Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Blanc. This is a clean, crisp, white wine that carries aromas of orchard fruit, spiced apple and citrus. The soft and round palate will taste spice, candied ginger and a hint of rose balanced with crisp acidity. The amazing fruit makes it the perfect wine to have on the patio with lots of family and friends, or at traditional festive gatherings where you are roasting a big bird. Wild Goose has aptly branded it, “Our secret blend of deliciousness.”
Autumn Gold pairs perfectly with Red Seal chef David Simenoff’s fall-off-the-bone ribs slathered with a generous amount of his secret recipe sauce at the winery’s Smoke & Oak Bistro. The menu is inspired by the smoky flavours of the Southern US, enlivened with fresh local ingredients. Chef David makes everything from scratch including his own corn bread, slaw and baked beans. Fall days are meant for lingering and the patio views are stunning in the golden light as the vineyards leaves turn and the grapes near their peak just before harvest.
The winery’s 2017 Vineyard Stage Concert Series closes out the season on September 30th with the 4th Annual Beale Street Festival, a tribute to the annual Memphis Blues Festival. Tickets include seating, a Smoke & Oak Bistro buffet meal along with a glass of wine.
Check the website at www.wildgoosewinery.com for fall hours. Winter sales can be arranged by appointment.
