AS WELCOME AS MAY BLOSSOMS QUINTA FERREIRA SHIFTS INTO HIGH GEAR

Roslyne Buchanan · May 1, 2018 ·

Quinta Ferreira Estate Winery’s tasting room is now open daily for the season with new vintages flying off the shelves.

Drink in the sights and scents of buds on Black Sage Road, and then taste the latest wine releases. While you’re stocking up on your beloved choices before they sell out, peruse the creations by Carmen Tome, resident artist, and remember to arrange to attend your favourite events. Get tickets in the tasting room, by phone or online through www.quintaferreira.com, where you can also learn about the many benefits of The Wine Club.

A sure sign that wine touring is at full throttle is the annual Bifanas, Wine & Live Music event, featuring bifanas, the deliciously popular Portuguese sandwich of pork in a bun, salad and a glass of wine for $20. It’s on May 6 from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm — or until the bifanas run out.

The Sunday Music Series returns from 1 to 4 pm, July 1 to September 2. It’s free, so round up your family, friends and visitors and pack a picnic lunch. Purchase a glass or bottle of your favourite Quinta Ferreira wine to pair with your picnic and live music on the patio. With a rotating schedule of talented performers, you might want to make it a weekly ritual.

The 6th Annual Paella Feast is July 29, 11:30 am to 3 pm. As you view the vineyards and community of Oliver, watch the famous Portuguese dish, paella, prepared over an open fire, and enjoy live music. ($25 per ticket includes a plate of paella and glass of wine.)

The 11th Annual Winemaker’s Dinner takes place September 29, 6:30 to 10:30 pm. Chef Adam Relvas of Kelowna is featured this year.
