Fresh Tastes of the Shuswap at Recline Ridge

Roslyne Buchanan · June 28, 2018 ·

A member of Shuswap Wineries (shuswapwineries.ca), Recline Ridge Vineyards & Winery proudly represents the advantages of wine touring northwest of Vernon. About a one-and-a-half hour’s scenic drive from the Kelowna Airport, Recline Ridge offers a leisurely perspective and diverse tasting experience.

They are open daily in high season. See reclineridgewinery.com for hours, wine purchasing details and where else it’s available. Bring a picnic or select locally produced meat snacks, cheese, preserves, crackers and Recline Ridge wine gums from the cooler. Have your feast on the licensed patio with a glass or bottle of Recline Ridge wine.

Here, the season is condensed with later bud break and earlier harvests, while summers are warm and dry with long sunny days. Nights are cooler — all the better for a great night’s sleep and to preserve the grapes’ flavours.

True to the region, owners Graydon and Maureen Ratlaff source grapes from Recline Ridge’s own vineyards and other Shuswap growers. Delight in aromatic, crisp whites and robust reds, from patio-sippers to food-friendly selections and dessert expressions. Learn about varietals that also flourish in Italy, Austria, Germany, Hungary and the Loire Valley such as Bacchus, Blaufrankisch, Kerner, Madeleine Angevine, Madeleine Sylvanner, Maréchal Foch, Optima, Ortega, Pinot Noir, Siegerrebe and Zweigelt.
