TIME TO TAILGATE

Roslyne Buchanan · June 22, 2018 ·

Join Naramata Bench Wineries Association’s (NBWA) annual Tailgate Party on Saturday, September 8 at the Naramata Heritage Inn.

This year’s theme is “Bootleg Bash,” celebrating the building of the Naramata Heritage Inn and the founding of Naramata in the early 1900s. How fitting to convene the 28-NBWA member wineries with Naramata restaurant chefs at the Naramata Heritage Inn for one of the Okanagan’s best harvest parties of the season. The Naramata Hotel, precursor to the inn, was built 110 years ago by John Moore Robinson, who also started the fruit industry in the region. Hats for men and women were all the rage in those days, so don your best heritage headwear to be eligible for prizes!

The Tailgate Party features wine tastings, local cuisine and live music to “let our hair down, pop some corks and celebrate the harvest,” says Tina Baird, NBWA Marketing Director.

Tickets ($125) are available online at naramatabench.com or call 1-800-656-0713. Buy your tickets early for this perennially sold-out harvest event. And book accommodations: visitpenticton.com. Note: there are shuttles from Penticton to the event.

This is a terrific event to include in your visit to Naramata Bench Wine Country. Come and enjoy the great wine, food and recreational experiences offered on The Bench.

Another excellent way to experience Naramata and its renowned wines is to join the NBWA Best of the Bench Wine Club. You will receive a mixed case twice annually of hand-selected NBWA wines at winery pricing — many are limited production wines that are not widely available. For details, email wineclub@naramatabench.com or visit naramatabench.com.

Naramatabench.com provides links to the wineries’ individual websites, where you’ll find the details on the tastings, dining and activities. NBWA wineries are thriving with news and activities, so everyone is invited to come and discover “A Story in Every Bottle!”
