Two-time recipients of the Governor General’s Award for Excellence, this family-owned-and-operated winery rests in the heart of Oliver’s famed Black Sage Bench. With 16 vintages under its belt, Desert Hills has become a renowned producer of high-quality wines that have won numerous local and international awards.

Teamwork

The winery team takes pride in the family aspect of their endeavour. Three brothers divide and conquer at Desert Hills, each focussing on a particular facet of the winemaking process. Whether on the business end of operations or the crucial areas of vineyard and production management, the Toors have their bases covered.

A Taste for Charity

Visit the estate in Oliver and become enamoured by the beauty of the dry desert landscape flourishing with vinifera as far as the eye can see. Enjoy a tasting and revel in the fact that all collected fees are donated to the family’s charity project, a recreational centre in their home country of India.

Enjoy the Bistro

While visiting, don’t forget to stop by the newly opened bistro where executive chef Patrick serves up delicious eats, including already-infamous artisan pizzas that pair divinely with a glass of Desert Hills wine.

The Merlot is highly recommended. A fine representation of the unique aspects of Okanagan terroir, the 2013 vintage has a velvet-smooth mouthfeel coupled with a fine structural backbone that lends itself to pairing with your next summer feast.
