Peace Love and Rock ’n Roll at Summerland Estate

Deanna Dunham · September 7, 2018 ·

Summerland Estate Winery and B&B is happy to announce its first upcoming event with Caron Maria Records.

“We are excited to team up with Summerland Estate Winery and be able to showcase our artists just down the road from our recording studio,” says producer Thurein Myint. “It is sure to be a wonderful way to spend an evening during the Thanksgiving weekend”.

A Night of Music, Wine and Dinner

Peace, Love and Rock ’n Roll with Mason Burns takes place October 6. Mason Burns is a talented singer/songwriter out of Penticton, with much of his material inspired by classic rock artists such as Led Zeppelin. The evening will feature three opening acts performed by Jen Peters, Macy Lynn and Samantha Goy. Tickets will be $65 and include dinner and a complimentary glass of Summerland Estate wine. Guests will be welcome to wander the property to take in the Okanagan Lake views at the You Had Me at Merlot wedding pavilion, named after its location in the vineyard beside the soft, easy-sipping Merlot block. Summerland Estate’s B&B and Guest House will also be open for guests to check out and sample appetizers.

Mmmmm Merlot

Summerland Estate produces two very different Merlots, both named after the two ending digits of the longitude and latitude location, 88, which also represents good fortune and continuity. The 2016 88 Merlot offers delicate and soft tannins, aged for only eight months in French barrels. It has a Black cherry and sweet plum finish with smooth vanilla cream notes that elegantly exemplify the unique terroir of Summerland Estate Winery. The 2016 Reserve Merlot offers more of a medium tannin structure expressing dark berries and rich cocoa. Aged 24 months in French barrels, it creates a medium body and vanilla bean finish.

The estate also uses 50 per cent Merlot blended with Pinot Noir in its rosé. With this kind of diversity, if anyone really had me at Merlot, these guys take the cake.
