Come for the Wine, Stay for the Experience at Red Rooster Winery

Jenna Hickman · July 1, 2021 ·

A wine lover’s haven awaits you. Perched amongst the rolling hills, overlooking the southern Okanagan Valley (just off Naramata Road in Penticton), is Red Rooster Winery.

Malbec 2020 Rosé

This year, the winery released their highly anticipated, 100 per cent Malbec 2020 Rosé.

“Our winemaker, Elaine Vickers, really took our rosé to the next level,” said Burke Ganton, the assistant manager at Red Rooster Winery. “It’s delicate and dry, with notes of rhubarb and cherries, and a hint of strawberry. It really is beautiful. The wonderful thing about rosé is that it is so versatile. It really is one of those all-around delicious wines that you can enjoy anywhere.”

The 2020 vintage also has a new bottle shape and will display Red Rooster’s new label. With under 400 cases, this rosé is sure to fly off the shelves quickly!

Sip, Snack and Stay a While

While visitors come for the wine, it is Red Rooster’s stunning views and hospitality that make people stay, sometimes for the entire day.

Whether you’re at a table on the patio or in the shade under a tree by the vineyard, you’ll have a spectacular view while you sip on delectable wine.

To pair with your wine, Red Rooster has partnered with Joy Road Catering this year to put together a handcrafted picnic box. You’ll be treated to a plethora of delicious foods, such as homemade artisan rye crisps, sheep’s milk Pecorino Romano cheese, soft-ripened Brie, 18-month-aged prosciutto, mild Milano salami, house-made pickled mustard seeds, fermented local turnips, and some sweet and salty almonds and cashews.

While the picnic boxes may slightly differ from each other in their offerings, each will have two luxury cheeses and two meats, with a selection of accompaniments. The board for two also includes two wine pairings comprised of four two-ounce pours. For just $40, this experience will be a date night to remember.

“We’ve put something truly special together with Joy Road,” said Ganton. “Guests can experiment with the picnic box too. I suggest trying each of the wines with the different components of the board and seeing what flavours are brought out. By experimenting with the different flavours and aromas, the picnic box can be as educational as it is enjoyable.”

Flights and Blind Tastings

You can also enjoy Red Rooster’s signature wine flight, where guests can taste what truly makes up Red Rooster’s collection.

Another new item on Red Rooster’s tasting menu is their blind tasting, where black-out glasses are used to mask the wine. Wine tasters are challenged to guess the varietal in the glass based on smell and taste alone. If all four wines are correctly identified, the taster is gifted with a bottle of wine.

“We want to promote learning experiences for our guests,” said Ganton. “Wine is meant to be shared, talked about and enjoyed, and we truly believe we offer our guests those opportunities.”

Whether guests opt for the picnic box tasting, the signature flight or the blind tasting, they are sure to have a fantastic experience at Red Rooster Winery.
