Forbidden Spirits – Let the Spirits Move You

Kim Rhindress · July 1, 2021 ·

Jim and Kim Rhindress

Music lovers can enjoy award-winning vodka and gin this summer while tapping their toes to a wide range of accomplished Kelowna musicians at Forbidden Spirits.

Every Forbidden Friday and Sinful Saturday from 6 pm to 8 pm, June through September, will bring free live music to Forbidden Spirits’ large outdoor patio and picnic area. Styles ranging from roots and folk to eighties and classic rock will provide a wide variety of music to suit every taste. Soulful Sundays from 4 pm to 6 pm will bring a more laid-back vibe to the distillery with jazz, blues and soft rock.

Loving the Live Music

“Everyone is excited to hear live music again,” Blair Wilson, Forbidden’s owner, said. “We have selected our musicians as carefully as we do everything else here and are confident the entertainment will create wonderful memories for everyone who attends.”

The patio lounge will offer tastings, cocktails and a selection of vegan appetizers. Reservations are strongly recommended as seating is limited.

Outdoor Picnic Area

“A new outdoor picnic area has been added adjacent to the patio that includes 12 large tables complete with shade umbrellas,” Wilson said. “We have so much space here, we want to accommodate as many guests as we can.”

Flavoured Syrups

Just in time for summer, Forbidden Spirits is crafting one-of-a-kind flavoured simple syrups that complement each of their spirits’ unique flavour profiles. In addition to Eve’s Original Lavender Lime, they have created a delicious Hibiscus Rose Hip simple syrup. The Lavender Lime perfectly complements Eve’s Original Gin, while Hibiscus Rose Hip pairs particularly well with the Rebel Vodka.

Forbidden Spirits also has a few surprises in store, like a new Espresso Martini Simple Syrup to savour with any of their spirits. And gin lovers will be excited to try Eve’s Original Gin – Aged. This floral spirit has been aged since October 2020 in the same American oak barrels which previously housed the distillery’s Adam’s Apple Brandy, and its nose and palate are out of this world! Look for its release in July 2021.

Vodka, Gin and Whisky!

Already famous for their vodkas and gins made exclusively from apples, Forbidden Spirits has expanded their product line, partnering with a local craft brewery to create Wallace Hill Whisky.

Barrel-aged whisky aficionados will be eager to join the flagship Whisky Program: $3,000 buys a half barrel that Forbidden Spirits will age for a minimum of three years. During that time, owners can occasionally sample their whisky as it ages. At the end of three years, 100 bottles of whisky will be ready for pickup.

The distillery is open daily, but reservations are encouraged from Monday to Friday, with walk-ins available Saturdays and Sundays.

Visit forbiddenspirits.ca to book your tasting, reserve a table on the patio or inquire about hosting a wedding or special event.
