REPLENISH YOUR WINTER WISH LIST AT QUINTA FERREIRA

Roslyne Buchanan · September 1, 2021 ·

Blink and Okanagan summer is gone as autumn returns. Plan for winter by stocking up on your wine wish list at Quinta Ferreira Estate Winery. Find end-of-the-vintage sales and new releases to scoop up quickly because some are in limited supply.

Seize the opportunity to see Carmen Tomé’s latest art and gift items in the Wine Shop before season’s end. Open 10 am to 6 pm daily to October, Quinta Ferreira is picture perfect amid fall-coloured vineyards on Black Sage Road in Oliver.

Among the Vintages

Winemaker Michael Ferreira has been busy creating expressions “true to the fruit” in Old World style.

2020 Zinfandel is brighter and cooler than a Californian style while delivering satisfying dark fruit, pepper and spicy highlights. With limited production, it‘s released to Wine Club members first and sells out quickly.

A beautiful dark colour and the concentrated flavours of blackberry, black cherry and blackcurrant with subtle raspberry and floral notes define the 2020 Malbec.

2014 Cabernet Franc delivers wonderful blackberry and black cherry notes, then layers of chestnut, chocolate, light cedar and sweet vanilla. Hard candy flavours linger in a long finish.

Smooth dark cherry and blackberry greet you in the 2014 Malbec, followed by sweet vanilla and spicy oak layers. Raspberry sweet/tartness balances with smooth tannins for a long finish.

Barrel fermented and aged in both French and American oak, the Chardonnay sips smoothly, and pairs divinely with seafood and cheeses. Soft apple mingles with ripe melon, pear and peach, framed by waves of vanilla, caramel, coconut and hazelnut.

2013 Obra Prima, a big blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot, is perennially popular. It starts with bell pepper and black cherry notes, then delivers mocha coffee, delicate cedar, cherry and sweet vanilla, culminating with hard candy and a spicy long finish.
