Stock up for fall at Adega on 45th Estate Winery

Admin · August 31, 2020 ·

Jenna Hickman

When you’re in the Osoyoos area, Adega on 45th Estate Winery should be your next stop. You’ll love the panoramic view of Osoyoos Lake. As its name indicates, Adega on 45th is located on 45th Street in Osoyoos, BC.

Since 2011, Fred Farinha, his sister Maria Nunes, and their partners Pamala Farinha and Alex Nunes have woven their Portuguese heritage into their premium Okanagan wine. Adega on 45th produces 5,500 to 6,500 cases per year – all from their 28.5 acres of estate vines. Their wines are known for being fruit-forward with a dry finish.

Tasty Wines

Whether you enjoy a bold and juicy Merlot, a floral and spicy Syrah, or a rich and luxurious Cabernet Sauvignon, Adega on 45th is the perfect place to stock up your fall wine cabinet.

The winery recently released their 2018 Syrah reserve, and since last year’s Syrah sold out by October, Syrah lovers should pick up their bottle sooner rather than later.

Known for their port-style wine, Adega produces something unique in the Okanagan: a white port.

“This is our second year making our white port,” says co-owner Alex Nunes. “Not too many other wineries in BC have a white port, so it’s very popular.”

With notes of ripe pears, honey apricots and apples, the white port, or Portao Da Adega Branco, pairs beautifully with white chocolate and cheesecake.

Come Taste at Adega

Adega’s tasting room is open seven days a week from 10 am until 5 pm. for walk-ins only. In lieu of a tasting fee, the winery asks for a cash donation towards the BC Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.

Their motto, “A nossa casa é a tua casa,” which translates to “Our house is your house,” aptly describes Adega. They are ready to welcome you to their home.
